Yda Walt | Fish Hoek - Cape Town | Textiles & Prints

Yda studied Textile Printmaking at the London College of Furniture, UK, and then returned to Johannesburg where she set up her own screenprint studio.

With a small team, she designs and manufactures hand-printed products for the South African tourism industry.

You’ve probably seen her iconic tea towels, aprons, purses, and shoppers — featuring African proverbs or Mandela quotes — in airport stores and other well-known craft shops across the country.

Artistic Practice

Beyond commercial products, she also creates vibrant textile art panels and prints linocuts on paper, showcasing her strong illustrative and design sensibilities.

Studio Life

Yda moved to Fish Hoek two years ago and now works between her small local studio and the larger production studio in Johannesburg.
