Evan Oberholster was born in 1956 in South Africa. He studied Fine Art at the University of Pretoria before relocating to Amsterdam, The Netherlands, where he worked as an artist and illustrator. In 1999, Evan presented his first solo exhibition, Total Exposure, a collection of 69 male nude paintings completed over two years of focused artistic exploration. Following this debut, he hosted two additional solo exhibitions in Cape Town and participated in several group shows. New Medium, New Direction Since relocating to Clovelly in 2019, Evan has expanded his practice to include clay sculpture, developing a compelling series of ceramic masks - expressive, mixed media works exploring the human face. Sheree Harrison is originally from the Eastern Cape with a Fine Arts degree from Rhodes University. She is a  co-owner of Truly Fantastic, an artist's canvas manufacturing company. She paints landscapes in acrylics and oils, creates mixed media artworks and embroidered flora on canvas, all of which are inspired by the beauty of nature. Sandile B Cele has been cultivating his unique and distinctive style since obtaining his degree in Fine Arts and specialising in ceramics at the Natal Technikon in 2000 (now the Durban University of Technology), where he studied under Hennie Stroebel. After graduating, he shared and perfected his skills by working with Arts Aid to help young and emerging artists develop a range of interdisciplinary skills. From 2005 to 2016, Sandile worked with internationally renowned ceramicist Clementina Van Der Walt, assisting in her studio and further developing his skills and expertise. Born in Durban, Lauren Shantall has lived in Cape Town since 1995. She works full-time in communications and devotes time to painting whenever she can. She lives in Fish Hoek with her husband and their son, four dogs, many goldfish and a cat. She has a small studio space at home. Artistic Focus Her paintings reveal an ongoing fascination for the natural world, specifically plants and flowers. Yda studied Textile Printmaking at the London College of Furniture, UK, and then returned to Johannesburg where she set up her own screenprint studio. With a small team, she designs and manufactures hand-printed products for the South African tourism industry. You’ve probably seen her iconic tea towels, aprons, purses, and shoppers — featuring African proverbs or Mandela quotes — in airport stores and other well-known craft shops across the country. Artistic Practice Beyond commercial products, she also creates vibrant textile art panels and prints linocuts on paper, showcasing her strong illustrative and design sensibilities. Susan is a designer and costume maker with experience across theatre, film, fashion, and education. She has taught sewing, led creative workshops, and sold her own designs across South Africa. Mandy is a multidisciplinary artist who works mainly with alternative materials, alternative printmaking techniques, and experiential sculpture and installation. Her dual passions for art and sharing knowledge have led her to initiate collaborative projects, lead workshops, and mentor other artists as part of her evolving practice. Mandy’s work is included in multiple private and corporate collections. Her most recent presentations were at CIRCA Cape Town (2024) and AfrikaBurn (2025). Initially trained as a medical doctor, Carol Hofmeyr then studied printmaking at what is now the University of Johannesburg. She moved to the village of Hamburg in the Eastern Cape and founded the Keiskamma Art Project. For 20 years, she worked alongside the women — and some men — of three rural villages, creating major works that explored illness, death, restoration, and resurrection. Since 2020, Carol has been trying to find her way back to making personal artworks , and Open Studios Fish Hoek offered her the first opportunity to show this body of work. Inspired by the Cape’s natural beauty, they have created a range of unique, timeless soft furnishings. Their designs are hand drawn and then stitched using free-motion embroidery, which gives the feeling of "drawing with thread". This freehand machine embroidery technique used to “draw” with thread means that each product is one of a kind. Cathy Stanley is a colourist lured by playful and unconventional methods of making paintings and non-dominant hand line drawings. She uses paper fragments to describe emotive moments. If green thumbs could paint, Cathy uses hers to create vivid palettes of torn paper deftly manipulated by hand to form domestic and environmental paperpainting scenes that expand beyond our private spaces — a contemplation on the fragile connections surrounding us. Technique & Materials Using lightfast dyes to saturate the Vietnamese natural fibre paper in large-scale works, these fragments form the basis of these unique paintings with paper. Gerda Smit, professionally known as O.Griet, is a fine artist and illustrator whose work brings together storytelling, sculpture, and the quiet beauty of everyday life. Trained in painting and ceramics at the Tshwane University of Technology, Gerda developed a distinctive visual language that combines technical skill with a deep sense of playfulness. Her academic thesis explored the childlike and naïve quality that many artists long for — an intentional unlearning in their process, where the focus shifts from polished outcomes to creating for the sake of expression and discovery.
