Anthea Czech | Fish Hoek – Cape Town | Painting | Mixed Media

Anthea Czech is a Cape Town-based artist with a BSc in Computer Science and Psychology from the University of Cape Town. After painting part-time for many years, she has recently moved into a studio at Mothership Studios in Fish Hoek. 

Her work explores landscapes, portraiture and abstraction. She draws inspiration from people, their emotions and body language, and the ways in which the psyche can be expressed unconsciously through gesture and form. Anthea is particularly interested in how light interacts with colour and form to create imagery and mood. 

Her practice is exploratory, allowing each subject and composition to guide the direction of the work. She has completed a number of painting courses, including working under the guidance of artist Debbie Field. Anthea has participated in various group exhibitions in and around Cape Town, including exhibitions at Steenberg Golf Estate, Alliance Française, Trill Road in Observatory, the Gill Alderman Gallery, Nova Constantia and The Palms.
